How Our Addiction Treatment Works

Holina Rehab treats addictions, often accompanied by trauma, anxiety and depression. We don’t have a fixed start date. The program begins as soon as you arrive.

We use the proven western 12 Step model of treatment, mixed with NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), and various other talking therapy strategies, combined with our holistic healing therapies and mixed with mindfulness practices, which originate from Thai Buddhism and other Eastern Spiritual practices.

We have Counsellors, Coaches, Mentors, Therapists, Psychotherapists, Trainers and even a Monk on our diverse and experienced team.

"By far the best rehabilitation centre I have been to. The level of care is second to none. "Holina has been a life changing experience for me. I've been to 4 rehabs in my life and this has been by far the most profound experience I've had. This type of treatment simply couldn't be found in UK based rehabs. I came in on a huge amount of psychiatric and illicit meds. I was safely weaned off all the drugs I was abusing whilst having the support structure i needed around me at all times. Whilst the location is paradise, the programme itself is very structured and reasonably strict, which is exactly what I needed. Its helped me push my limits from a socially anxious man who isolated, to a (tanned!) man who looks forward to speaking and engaging in communities. I've conquered some real fears in the 11 weeks I stayed in Holina. And I got the opportunity to make some of the best friends of my life, and grow into someone I didn't think possible. They have 2 qualified Psychologists, a number of case managers, nurse, breath work, TRE, meditation, inner walk, Muay Thai, swimming, yoga to name a few. Each person has their own case manager with an individual care plan, that in conjunction works with ensuring the right interventions for the right person."

"Holina provided an amazing environment for me to be able to build myself back up and provide me with the tools to leave and take on life again. It's a beautiful facility with amazing views and facilities such as the restaurant, gym and a well kept private beach. All the staff work really hard to keep the place clean and well kept. The structure of the days are fantastic ensuring a morning of group sessions and opportunity for yoga or swimming before breakfast. And a focus on the AA programme and step work in the afternoon. All the support staff are really caring and take time to listen to all their clients whether it's support with the step work or suggestions for how they could improve the treatment or facilities provided. I had fantastic therapists throughout treatment, my primary therapist I was able to see twice a week to really work through personal problems and building my ability to recognise my emotions and needs and how to move forward with them. I also had access to multiple somatic therapists which was something I had never experienced before and highly recommended taking advantage of that opportunity. Holina provides the safe environment to really work on yourself and gives you so much opportunity for growth and learning especially if youre able to apply yourself and really work hard with them. I have a lot to thank Holina for, I went in really struggling to cope with addiction and life in general and I came out with strong confidence and so much knowledge."

"I arrived at Holina with no idea what to expect, what was on offer, or what the place looked like. So it totally blew my mind exploring the space and finding out it had its own private beach, multiple pools, a full gym and was nestled into the jungle with beautiful bungalows speckled across the hillside. The whole place felt like a high end retreat centre rather than a recovery centre. Then when I got a copy of the schedule and saw quite how much was on offer, I knew id made the right choice in choosing Holina. Everyday was jam packed with such a diverse line up of activities and the way the schedule is laid out is perfect. A really nice balanced mix of inner work, therapy, different spiritual practices, group sessions, step work, exercise and a chunk or two a day of time to be able to relax and appreciate the environment you’re in and soak up some of that tropical sun. The days were so rich and diverse and I was always being challenged to try new things and because of this I grew so much during my time there. It really was amazing quite how much was on offer there and every facilitator was incredible at what they did and it felt like it was so much more than just a job to most of them. They genuinely cared about all the clients and it felt you were all part of a family and I made a lot of friends that I will go on to be close with for the rest of my life. I originally planned to only be there for 30 days, but decided to extend for the full three month program"

"I want to thank all of the staff at Holina for their care and support during one of the toughest journeys of my life. Through group work, individual counseling with my trauma therapist, and one-on-one sessions with so many talented holistic providers, they helped me heal in ways I never thought possible. My treatment plan and day-to-day at Holina was individualized and tailored to my needs. No canned, one-size-fits -all approach. My biggest breakthrough came through water therapy with my instructor, Siobhan. It was intensely intimate, and I learned to develop trust and heal in warm water under her gentle guidance. Letting go and allowing myself to be supported was one of the hardest yet most healing experiences of my life. The inner peace I felt after those sessions is indescribable. It was the first time in a long time that I truly felt safe in my body and because of that I also experienced a spiritual awakening. Somatic work, massages and breathwork were all part of the program. I took advantage of the gym, yoga, qigong and Muay Thai too. We met with a monk every week and spent Saturday nights immersed in a sound bowl healing session. There is just too much to list. Holina wasn’t just about therapy—it was about learning to live again in the present moment. Each week, we took trips to incredible places, like the elephant sanctuary, where I got to witness the beauty of these gentle giants up close, and a different breathtaking beach every weekend. A much needed reminder of the beauty in the world. The peaceful environment at Holina made healing easier. My room overlooked the beach. Waking up to the sound of the waves reminded me that healing is a process—just like the tides, it ebbs and flows. My room became a beautiful retreat where I could process, rest, and simply breathe and connect with my inner self. The entire staff, from my case manager Tanya to the amazing nurses, were always there when I needed support. The kitchen staff, some of the kindest people I’ve ever met, made sure every meal was delicious, nourishing and comforting. The front desk and housekeeping staff took such good care of my room and needs. They made me feel like I was the only guest. And the grounds were immaculate thanks to the grounds crew. I can’t forget that excursions with AK were always a fun time. He always took such good care of us and made sure we had fun. Beyond the therapy and structure, Holina gave me something just as valuable, a sense of community. I built friendships that I know will last a lifetime. We supported each other through the hard days, celebrated the small wins, and bonded over activities like kayaking at the beach or hanging out at the pool. Leaving Holina after two months, I am not the same person I was when I arrived, and I am so grateful for that. Today, I am proudly four months into my recovery journey and participating in Holina’s aftercare program. The journey of healing from my past will be lifelong, but for the first time, I feel ready.
