Residential Rehab Designed for People Who Need It to Work

Holina Rehab is a fully licensed residential addiction treatment centre on the island of Koh Phangan, Thailand. We provide medically supervised detox, evidence-based therapy, dual treatment for co-occurring behavioural health conditions, and a structured recovery environment designed for lasting change.

Our admissions team works with individuals, partners, parents, and family members from around the world. If you are uncertain whether Holina is the right fit, contact us. We will advise honestly — including if a different level of care is more appropriate, or point you toward our Dual Treatment programme for co-occurring conditions.

Who We Help

Which Families Does Holina Support?

Many individuals and families are uncertain whether use has crossed into addiction. These clinical indicators can help you recognise when professional support is needed.

Partners and Spouses

We work with partners who are managing a loved one’s addiction, navigating difficult conversations, and trying to understand what treatment looks like.

Parents of Adult Children

Parents who are funding treatment, managing a crisis, or simply trying to understand their child’s situation are welcome to contact us directly.

Adult Children of Addicted Parents

We work with adult children organising treatment for a parent who has finally accepted help, or who requires intervention.

Families in Crisis

Where a situation has escalated to crisis — overdose, legal problems, or complete loss of function — our admissions team can advise on urgent options.

Families of International Clients

Where a family member is overseas, we coordinate the full admissions process remotely and keep the family appropriately informed throughout treatment.

Those Who Have Tried Before

Many families contact us after a previous treatment attempt was unsuccessful. We will honestly assess what has and has not worked, and explain what our programme offers differently.

  • Direct Admissions Conversation

You will speak with a member of our admissions team who can answer your questions honestly — about your loved one’s situation, what treatment involves, and what we can realistically offer.

  • Guidance on the Right Level of Care

Not every situation requires residential treatment. We will advise honestly on whether Holina is the right fit, or whether a different level of care is more appropriate.

  • Family Therapy

Where clinically appropriate and with your loved one’s consent, family therapy sessions are available during the programme to address relationship dynamics affected by addiction.

  • Family Updates

With your loved one’s consent, we provide regular updates to the family throughout the programme.

  • Aftercare Coordination

We involve the family in discharge planning where appropriate — helping to prepare the home environment for the client’s return.

  • Ongoing Support

Our team remains available to families after discharge. Recovery is a long-term process, and we support the whole family system, not just the individual client.

Why Family Involvement Matters

Most people who need help never get it. According to SAMHSA’s 2023 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, only about 14.6% of people with a past-year substance use disorder received any treatment in that year. Families are often the reason a loved one takes the first step.

Research from the University of Washington’s Alcohol & Drug Abuse Institute links family involvement in treatment to better treatment entry, completion and outcomes. Family-inclusive approaches are also endorsed by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. That is why, with your loved one’s consent, we build the family into the recovery process. Medical detox, where required, is medically supervised throughout.

Family FAQ

Common Questions From Families

Can I visit my loved one during treatment?

In-person visits are generally discouraged in the early stages of the programme, when your loved one is stabilising and focusing on their own recovery. During this period we can arrange video calls and provide regular updates, always with the client’s consent. In-person visits are typically arranged towards the later stages of the programme, when they can support rather than disrupt progress. Our admissions team will explain the current visit policy for your loved one’s stage of treatment.

Will Holina share confidential details about my family member with me?

We follow standard clinical confidentiality. That means we can only share details about a client’s assessment, treatment or progress with their consent. Many clients do choose to involve their family and authorise us to share updates — but that decision rests with the client. Our admissions team can always speak with you about the process, options and how to support your loved one, even before any consent is in place.

How do I know if my loved one needs residential treatment rather than something less intensive?

This is exactly what our admissions team assesses. Residential treatment is often appropriate when there is physical dependence requiring medically supervised detox, when home or outpatient attempts have not worked, or when the home environment makes recovery difficult. If a less intensive level of care would genuinely fit better, we will tell you honestly — even if that means recommending a service other than our own.

What if my loved one refuses treatment right now?

Refusal is common, and it does not mean treatment will never happen. The most useful thing you can do is prepare: understand the options, know what a realistic path looks like, and be ready to move quickly when your loved one is open to help. Our admissions team can talk you through how other families have navigated resistance and how to keep a door open without pressure.

Is family therapy included in the programme fee?

Yes. Family therapy is part of our programme and is offered with the client’s consent, alongside family updates and aftercare coordination. It is included as part of the treatment programme rather than charged as a separate add-on.

How much does treatment at Holina cost?

Costs depend on the length and level of care your loved one needs. We set out full details, including what is included, on our rehab cost guide for Thailand, and we cover payment options on our insurance and financing page. Our admissions team can give you a clear figure once we understand the situation.

Ready to Begin Your Recovery?

Our admissions team responds the same day — seven days a week, in full confidence.
